Microsoft Lumia 650: sophisticated, metal design and Windows 10 under $200 USD

As one of the leaders in our devices business, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand transformation and progress across our Windows and Devices group. From Windows 10 to Surface Book to HoloLens, and PC-like productivity on Lumia 950 series, it is clearly now apparent that we have a portfolio of unique and productive Windows devices.

One of the guiding principles of the devices vision is that it’s not just about the device itself, but what you’re able to get done with it. The simple fact is that the most personal device that we have to get things done is our phone. So the team and I are working tirelessly to make sure that we do our best to give you the most productive phones on the planet. At the end of 2015 we introduced the first Lumia devices running Windows 10 – Lumia 550, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL – and we’re thrilled at the response they’ve received.

Microsoft’s Lumia 650 runs on Windows 10 Mobile, but it doesn’t support Continuum.
Microsoft has officially revealed the Lumia 650, a budget smartphone running on Windows 10 that only costs $199.

Microsoft’s Lumia 650 is being marketed as a business smartphone which would allow users to easily work on-the-go.
The smartphone comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office and OneDrive allowing users to open, store and share files on the device.
The Lumia 650 has a 5-inch OLED display with a screen resolution of 720p. Under the hood are Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212, the 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU with 1 gigabyte of RAM and 16 gigabytes of internal storage.

Unlike the Lumia 950 and 950 XL flagships, the Lumia 650 won’t be able to support Windows 10 Mobile’s Continuum feature, which allows users to turn the phone into a PC, because of the Snapdragon 212 processor.

The new handset is a lightweight performer overall, but it should be enough for users who prioritize Word and spreadsheet processing.
In addition to having OneDrive as a default cloud storage option, the smartphone also supports microSD cards of up to 200 gigabytes.
Lastly, the new smartphone also comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s important to note that the front-facing camera comes with a wide-angle lens, allowing it to fit more people when taking group selfies.
Microsoft’s Lumia 650 comes in black and white color options and will be heading to European markets on Feb. 18.
Microsoft has been struggling to keep up in the smartphone market which has been dominated by Android and iOS in recent years.
One of the major issues with Windows-powered handsets is its apparent lack of supported third-party applications.
Windows Central claimed in its report last month that the Lumia 650 will be Microsoft’s last Lumia-branded phone.

Various reports have said that the Redmond-based company will be focusing on a new flagship smartphone which has been heavily rumored to be the new Surface Phone.
The Surface Phone is rumored to make its debut later this year.
